268 Mastering DVD Studio Pro

Preparing the Project

If you are unfamiliar with DVD Studio Pro, complete the Introducing DVD

Studio Pro tutorial before beginning this lesson. Once you have the basics

down, you’re ready to begin.

You should have the DVD Studio Pro application and the Mastering DVD

Studio Pro tutorial files already installed on your computer. (See previous les-

son for how to copy these files to your computer.)

1 Locate the Apple Pro Training Tutorials folder on your computer’s desk-

top, and then double-click the folder to open it.

2 Open the Mastering_DVD_Studio_Pro folder.

3 Double-click the 1_Mstr_DVDSP_Starting file to open the project in DVD

Studio Pro.

When DVD Studio Pro opens, you will see the the project 1_Mstr_DVDSP_

Starting displayed in the Extended configuration. Press F2 to make sure

you are in the extended configuration before you start the tutorial.

Let’s get comfortable with the extended configuration before building our DVD.

Working With the Interface

The DVD Studio Pro project window can display up to four quadrants, each

made up of various tabs or controls. The extended configuration displays three

quadrants plus the Palette and the Inspector. In the Introducing DVD Studio

Pro tutorial, you were working in the Basic configuration, which displays only

one quadrant. Familiarize yourself with the quadrants in the picture below.

You will get to know the function of each quadrant as you build the project.
