Using discs in your CD-ROM drive
Before you use a CD-ROM disc, audio compact disc, or Photo CD
disc, you must put it into a caddy—a plastic case that protects the
disc from damage. When you insert the caddy into the AppleCD
300i drive, the protective metal shutter on the caddy slides away
to expose a section of the disc, allowing the drive’s optical head to
read the data.
S Important: The plastic case in which most CDs are sold is
not a caddy. You must put a disc in a caddy before you insert it
into the drive.
S
One caddy is included with your AppleCD 300i drive. You can get
additional caddies from an authorized Apple dealer. You may find
it convenient to store your CD-ROM discs in caddies.
