Information displays jerkily or sound seems
poorly synchronized.
The AppleCD 300i can transfer data at rates up to twice as fast as
standard CD-ROM drives. Some CD-ROM application programs,
which may be optimized for slower transfer rates, may not work
compatibly when the AppleCD 300i is operating in its fastest
mode. You can slow the AppleCD 300i to make it more
compatible with such application programs using the AppleCD
Speed Switch control panel. This control panel is automatically
installed when you install all the CD-ROM software. (See “Setting
Up Your CD-ROM Software” for installation instructions.)
To open the Speed Switch control panel, choose Control Panels
from the Apple menu and double-click the AppleCD 300 Speed
Switch icon. When the AppleCD Speed Switch window appears,
click Standard Speed. Click the close box to close the window.
Problems playing audio CDs
You don’t hear any sound when you try to use an
audio CD.
Are you trying to access audio information through a network?
You can’t hear the audio portion of discs you access over a
network. Likewise, if you share a CD-ROM disc using the file-
sharing feature of System 7, you will be able to hear audio
portions of the disc yourself, but other people on the network will
not.
Do you have headphones or speakers connected to the
computer? Try adjusting the connector to make sure you have a
good connection.
Is the volume control turned all the way down? Turn it up slowly.
Did you use the AppleCD Audio Player to play the disc, then click
the Play/Pause button to pause and forget to click it again to
resume play?
