Putting on the grounding strap
IMPORTANT
Be sure to put on the grounding wrist strap before handling the
SIMM or any internal printer parts. The strap grounds you to the printer,
preventing any static discharge that might harm the SIMM or printer. Wearing
the strap cannot harm you. Follow these steps:
1Wrap the end of the strap that does not have copper foil on it around your wrist.
The strap’s light adhesive coating keeps it attached to your wrist, while allowing for
easy removal.
2 Remove the backing from the piece of copper foil at the other end of the strap.
3Attach the copper-foil end of the strap to the metal lip on the inside of the printer by
pressing the adhesive backing against the metal.
