Installing the Software

You install the Chin ese

anguage Kit software using the Installer progra

located on the

Chinese

a nguage Kit

M disc.

Note:

You can install the Chinese

anguage Kit on a co

puter with a localized versio n of

syste

software. If th e co

puter has the Traditional Chinese Mac

installed on it, you

cannot install the Traditional Chinese Input Method or the Traditional Chinese fonts on the

puter. If it has t he

pliﬁed Chinese Mac

installed, you cannot install the

pliﬁed

Chinese Input Method o r the

pliﬁed Chinese fonts on the co

puter.

To install the Chinese

anguage Kit software, f ollow the se steps:

1 Inse rt the

Chinese

a nguage Kit

M disc in your C

M disc driv e.

ouble-click the Installer icon.

3 Click Continue when the Installer dialog box appears.

ead the

icense Agree

ent that appears, then click Agree to continue.

The Installer dialog box appears.

5 To install the basic software of the Chinese

anguage Kit, leave Easy Install selected.

Easy Install installs the

pliﬁed Chinese Input Method, t he Traditional Chinese Input

Method, three

pliﬁed Chinese fonts, and three Traditional Chinese fonts.

If you know exactly which parts of th e software you w ant to install, choose Custo

Install

fro

th e pop-up

enu and select the software you want to install.

If an ite

has a triang le next to it, you can click the triangle to s ee the individual ite

s that

are ins talled if you s elect the

ain ite

. You can select the

ain ite

to install all the ite

under it, or you can s elect individual ite

s to install.

6 Make sure that the

estinatio n

isk shows the hard disk on which y ou want to install the

software.

If the d estin ation dis k isn’t correct, click

witch

isk until the cor rect disk appears.

hen you are ready, click Install.

8 Follow the directions that appear onscreen.

9 If a

essage appears telling you that you need to restart your co

puter, click

estart.

Warning If you install only the input

ethod fonts, you will not be able to use th e fonts,

and your syste

ay not work pro perly.
